COVID Corner EP01: Immune Health, Vitamins & Minerals | Registered Dietitian | Health with Azi

Hey everyone. Welcome back to Health with Azi and the first episode of ‘COVID Corner’- a series to discuss health and nutrition claims along with those that are linked with COVID-19 as well as give nutritional advice related to supporting your immune system and much more.

In this video, I went through various vitamins and minerals which are important to support your immune system. There is an important role that vitamin D plays in reducing the severity of the coronavirus. This is a scientific breakthrough and proves that vitamins play an essential role in your immune function during this virus. Examples of vitamin D sources include the sun, nuts, seeds, dairy, eggs and many more.

Vitamin C is another vitamin that has been hyped by the wellness community. It has potent antioxidant properties and amongst many other things. Examples of vitamin c sources include oranges and other citrus fruits, tomatoes, green leafy vegetables, kiwi, sweet potatoes, fortified grains and cereals and many more.
Iron and zinc are also a very important component in your immune functioning and include sources like plant and animal-based proteins like tuna, red meat, fortified grains and cereals and many more.

Remember that the most important thing to do during this time is to social distance, wear a mask, wash your hands thoroughly and regularly and to eat a balanced diet filled with nutrient-dense foods and exercise as these are really important to support your immune system!
