Dexamethasone – New Wonder Drug for COVID-19?

Dexamethasone is a cheap and widely available drug which has been found to save the lives of patients seriously ill with coronavirus.
The low dose steroid dexamethasone is a major breakthrough in the fight against the deadly virus, UK scientists announced today.
It appears that high-risk patients are
most likely to be helped out by dexamethasone.
For patients on ventilators, it cut the
risk of death from 40 percent to 28 percent.
For patients needing oxygen, it
cut the risk of death from 25 percent to 20 percent.
Dexamethasone appears to stop the damaging cytokine storm so caused by the immune system going into overdrive.
These observations were based on a fairly large trial at Oxford University.
Dexamethasone was shown to reduce mortality significantly.
