Today’s video is specifically designed for women over 40 who want to optimise their health through proper nutrition, exercise, and vital vitamins and minerals. Remember, it’s never too late to start your health and fitness journey.

One of the most common misconceptions I hear about fitness is that you need to be doing high-intensity workouts to see any benefits.

But for women over 40, this isn’t necessarily the case. In fact, a mix of aerobic activities, like walking or swimming, combined with strength training exercises such as yoga or Pilates, can work wonders for maintaining and improving overall health.

Strength training is particularly beneficial as it helps combat the natural loss of muscle mass and bone density that occurs as we age.

Aim for at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity or 75 minutes of high-intensity aerobic activities per week, alongside two or more days of strength training exercises.

Now, let’s talk about nutrition. This plays an equally important role in health and wellness, especially as our metabolism naturally slows down over the years.

Consuming a balanced diet rich in lean proteins, whole grains, fruits, vegetables and healthy fats is crucial.

Focus on antioxidant-rich foods such as berries, dark leafy greens like spinach, and healthy fats like avocados and olive oil.

These are not only nutrient-dense but can also help reduce inflammation and fight off chronic diseases.

Lastly, let’s delve into vitamins and minerals. As we age, our nutrient needs shift.

Key vitamins and minerals for women over 40 include Calcium and Vitamin D for bone health, Vitamin B12 for brain function and red blood cell formation, and Iron to prevent anaemia.

However, remember that before starting any supplement regimen, it is essential to consult with your healthcare provider, as everyone’s needs and situations are different.

Everyone’s health and fitness journey is personal, but understanding these fundamentals can be a significant first step.

Remember to focus on balance: a mix of cardio and strength training, a nutritious diet, and the right blend of vitamins and minerals.

And as always, listen to your body, it knows best.
