COVID-19 | HOW A VACCINE CAN PROTECT YOU: An infection occurs when germs invade our body, they attack and, multiply making us ill.
Our immune system fights infections with a team of specialised cells. Each germ needs a special response put together by our cells. Then our memory cells remember the game plan to beat the germ making us immune to it.
Vaccines make us immune to some germs by training our cells to deal with them so that our cells will remember how.
While a vaccine can protect you, it won’t stop germs from spreading unless almost everyone gets vaccinated and community immunity occurs.
