Should everyone drink a glass of milk for calcium and vitamin D?

There is a long standing belief that drinking a glass of milk is the best source of calcium. Vitamin D is also correlated with milk consumption as it helps absorb the calcium better. However, this is not accurate advice for everyone as the majority of the world is lactose intolerant. This study explores how the genetic variance for lactase, the enzyme that breaks down lactose, can affect vitamin D absorption in Norway.

The take home message is to drink milk if you are not lactose intolerant, if you are then please avoid it.
