The UK government is running a COVID-19 vaccination consultation that may well interested you.
The UK Government has published a COVID-19 consultation document on the gov.uk website that runs until the 18th of September, saying that ‘by necessity’ they are working towards tight deadlines.
This is an open consultation called:
“Consultation document: changes to Human Medicine Regulations to support the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines”.
But it also appears to encompass the recently announced expansion to the winter Flu response. And although it is open, it is targeted at specific stakeholders. And says:
“This consultation is about the changes to the UK regulatory framework for human medicines, which are being introduced to clarify the regulatory context that is relevant to mass vaccination.”
It starts by saying that the government is taking a science-led approach to combat the pandemic and that:
“Effective COVID-19 vaccines will be the best way to deal with the pandemic.”
So herd immunity appears to be confirmed as dead and buried.
And it goes on to say that the independent Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (or JCVI):
“… will advise the UK government on which COVID-19 vaccine/s the UK should use, and on the priority groups to receive the vaccine based on the best available clinical, modelling and epidemiological data.”
Now, the document does say that the preferred route to enable the deployment of a COVID vaccine would be through the usual product licencing process.
