India on Friday gave the first dose of indigenously developed Covaxin to a man at Delhi’s AIIMS. This was part of the first-phase trials done in India to develop a vaccine against the novel coronavirus. WHO’s Soumya Swaminathan said we are far away from herd immunity. Cipla will be commercially launching its anti-viral drug against Covid-19 in the first week of August. The favipiravir drug, Ciplenza, will be available at Rs 68 per tablet, the company said. India and Israel to work together to develop a new rapid testing kit for Covid-19.
