The City of Long Beach continues to discuss stage two in its economic recovery. It is still required that residents practice safe physical distancing while wearing a face covering in crowded spaces. Currently, retailers are open for curbside pick-up as well as a number of public recreational areas. In discussion are ways to open personal grooming and barbershop businesses, including the Open Street Initiative for restaurants to expand daily sales. Local restaurants wanting to help at-risk communities can apply for the Great Plates Program. Similar to World Central Kitchen, its goal is to provide free and fresh meals for seniors in the community. Businesses can contact greatplateslb@longbeach.gov for information.
