What difference a day makes… what would happen if all the ships stopped for 24 hrs?
Welcome back to Maritime Matters – today I am speaking with Pradeep Chawla, from Anglo Eastern – a ship management company with over 650 ships and a crew pool of 28,000 seafarers.
With stories of resilience, but also of fear and frustration, the effect of border closures on crew change and compassionate leave are having a significant impact on seafarers and maritime professionals ashore.
Pradeep calls for all aspects of the industry to work together to promote the industry and protect these key workers. But, as a ‘forgotten’ industry, how do we highlight the importance of seafaring to the rest of the world? What would happen if all shipping, the complete cargo chain, stopped for 24 or 48 hrs?
