Hello again, fitness fanatics.
Today we’re talking about the big D: Vitamin D! A review of literature from the University of Auvergne has stated that vitamin D is an essential element for building muscle mass and muscle strength. This is especially true for older adults, but supplements could benefit people of any age. Low levels of vitamin D have been linked to muscular weakness, poor bone health, low aerobic capacity, reproductive hormone deficiencies, and higher body mass indexes. In addition to taking supplements, you can get vitamin D from eating fatty fish, mushrooms, or even just spending a little (but not too much!) time in the sun. Supplements are generally best for people who are already deficient or those who are over the age of 65; anyone else can usually get enough vitamin D from their diet and approximately 15 minutes of sunlight exposure per day. As always, thanks for watching.
