Today we’re going to talk about a hormone called leptin.

Leptin is a key immune hormone. But, it also has a lot to do with appetite. When leptin goes up, your hunger goes away. Leptin is a hormone that’s made by the fat cells and the intestinal cells, and it actually interacts with your brain. Leptin is very important in controlling whether or not you feel like you need to eat. When Leptin is low, you can feel hungry all of the time.

When you have high levels of leptin over a period of time, you can start to develop leptin resistance. In this situation, this hormone is no longer sensitive, and you don’t get the important function of leptin. Essentially, you have high leptin in the body, but it doesn’t work, so you don’t get the benefits.

Leptin is important in both the innate and adapted parts of the immune system. Leptin can help calm inflammation. If leptin is not working in the body, you could be at a higher risk for inflammation and autoimmune problems. High inflammation can also weaken a person’s immune system.

How to help fix leptin resistance:
1. The healthy keto diet
2. Intermittent fasting

The healthy keto diet and intermittent fasting could potentially help improve insulin resistance and leptin resistance, as well as help improve your overall immune system.
