Benefits: everyone knows vitamin d is essential for calcium absorption and is crucial for bone development. However, it also may help support muscle function and maintain a healthy immune system and heart health.
Vitamin d controls calcium levels in your blood. calcium is essential in our youth and throughout life to maximize and strengthen bones.

Reasons and common signs
90 percent of vitamin D is made in your body from sunlight exposure directly onto your skin. 10 percent of your foods
People are having vitamin D deficiency because they do not get enough sun.
Common signs:
sweating a lot
bones often ache
muscle pain
easily get sick
cannot stay energized
your wounds and bruises take longer to heal
more hair falling out of your head than usual

The effects and who is the most risk for this.
The main long term effects of having vitamin d deficiency:
People are at risk of having softer bones and muscles can be weak and sore.
women who are going through menopause or just have passed menopause
Children who are vitamin d deficient can develop rickets. Bones cant form normally and they can be short and the legs bowed

Dietary intake advice
Fatty fish, like tuna, mackerel, and salmon
Foods fortified with vitamin D, like some dairy products, orange juice, soy milk, and cereals
Beef liver
Cheese
Egg yolks

Vitamin D is a very important vitamin for both mother and baby. You need to make sure your vitamin D levels are normal during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. Make sure you get a blood test before taking a tablet.

Children 1-3 years old: 700 milligrams (mg)
Children 4-8 years old: 1,000 mg
Children 9-18 years old: 1,300 mg
Adults 19-50: 1,000 mg
Women 51 to 70: 1,200 mg
Men 51 to 70: 1,000 mg
Women and men 71 and over: 1,200 mg

Age 1-70: 600 IU
Age 71 and older: 800 IU
