John Wherry, PhD, describe the ways in which research at the Abramson Cancer Center and elsewhere into the host immune response in its relation to cancer is translating into a greater comprehension of COVID-19. Dr. Wherry discusses the ready armamentarium of drugs used to address the immune system in cancer and how the knowledge acquired from these agents can be applied to COVID-19. Dr. June illustrates the clear link between the host immune response to cancer cells and that to the acute fulminant immune reaction invoked by SARS-CoV-2.
