In China, Wuhan was locked down when cases exploded, shielding other major cities like Beijing and Shanghai. In the United States, every major city in every state, NYC, SF, LA, BOS, DC, MIA, CHI, AUS, DAL, DEN, etc., is emerging as a hotspot like Wuhan, per CDC stats.
Did you know the Wuhan Virus bill that passed the House with bipartisan support and likely gets signed into law actually exempts business with over 500 employers from being forced to do the things small businesses will be forced to do?
I should be qualified to comment on the covid-19 pandemic. I’m a computational/system biologist working on infectious diseases and have spent five years in a world class ‘pandemic response modelling’ unit. In this thread, I will summarise what I believe I (don’t) know.
No one reacted to H1N1 this way. It was declared a pandemic 6 months before Obama did anything.
The dramatic difference in which these two events have been handled make me believe this ALL about politics.
The virus of course is real. The wild overreaction is not.
The number of coronavirus cases worldwide has surpassed 150,000. Of those, 5,774 have died, 73,962 have recovered, and 72,698 are still sick
