Victoria’s Chief Health Officer, Professor Brett Sutton, has reported 20 new COVID-19 cases and one new coronavirus death – a man in his 80’s.
The death brought the state’s coronavirus death toll to 20, and took Australia’s national toll to 103.
Professor Sutton said there was an upswing in testing following the rise in cases over recent days, and told Victorians to “shop around” for testing clinics should they encounter long queues.
He also urged Victorians to fight against fake news about coronavirus shared on social media, saying “misinformation [is] circulating quite freely”.
