DIY VITAMIN C SERUM – EASY & CHEAP!

Save money on vitamin C serum by making your own! You can make a fresh batch every week to ensure it stays potent and doesn’t oxidize.

Vitamin C serum helps protect your skin against free radicals and gives it a smoother appearance.

It’s so cheap to make, the ingredients are easy to buy, and you can make it in any concentration you want.

If you haven’t used vitamin C serum before, I suggest making a 5% strength first. Use that for one week. If you don’t have any irritation, try the 10% strength the second week.

Make sure to use a good sunscreen wherever you apply the vitamin C serum! See suggestions for sunscreens below in the “Products shown or mentioned” section!

Recipe for the various strengths of Vitamin C Serum:

5%: 1/4 t. Ascorbic Acid powder + 4 t. Base**

10%: 1/4 t. Ascorbic Acid powder + 2 1/4 t. Base**

15%: 3/8 t. Ascorbic Acid powder + 2 1/8 t. Base**

20%: 1/4 t. Ascorbic Acid powder + 1 t. Base**

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In the video I made a double recipe of the 20% serum which is:
1/2 t. Ascorbic Acid powder + 2 t. Base**
** The Base can be all distilled water or a combination of distilled water and glycerin (or some other thickener, such as a chafing gel).
For the 2 teaspoons of Base, I used 1 1/2 t. distilled water and 1/2 t. glycerin (for a double recipe)..
In other words, I like the base to be mostly distilled water and less than half in glycerin.
