COVID-19

Boost Your Immune System to Protect Yourself against COVID19 – Do or Die #40

In this episode we look at what boost your immune system and can help you in case of a COVID-19 infection.

The first priority is of course avoiding to get the disease. So you want to follow the #5measures the #doordie way.

I have a very special routine, which I do every morning. It does not take long, it boost my confidence, wakes me up and is good for my health.
The first part of the routine is simple. I do some stretching for my body and a workout. You can choose anything which is good for your body and is so short that you can Do it EVERY day. For me that is about 5-10 minutes. I can always do that.
If you choose something longer like jogging for half an hour, you might be tempted to skip that when your schedule is tight. So choose something which is good for you and is short enough for Every day: joga, stretching, workout. Ideally you do not need to change clothing.
For me it is some minutes of stretching and then 40 pushups, ab crunches and about 10 pull ups.

The idea of this Is to give your body something which is good and it is boosting your CONFIDENCE that you are taking action and following it. It gives you Self Esteem that you set an objective and just do it. It gives you a tailwind for your day!

Afterwards I take a COLD shower. Yes you heard it right a Cold shower.

When I was in school there was a worker living in a construction trailer. He told me that he washes outside with the cold water every morning and that it is very refreshing. I copied that and I always washed my face with cold water in the morning. It was refreshing.
A Cold shower will definitely refresh you and wake you up. There are many people who recommend this for strengthening the body’s defenses and health.
You are also doing something good for the environment because it does not need energy to heat the water and you will probably also take a shorter shower and use less water. So all in all a lot of positive effects?
Then why don’t we all take a cold showers? Of course, there are our habits and comfort.

Last year I watched a video about the challenge “Take a cold shower every morning for 30 days”, I thought you’d give it a try.
The next morning I stood in front of the shower and thought about what I am doing now.
Then I got into the shower and thought more and more that this is not a good idea.
I opened the water. The first 10 seconds were a small shock. But then after a short time I got used to it. I took the shower gel, washed myself and rinsed off the foam.
Ultimately, it was the biggest challenge for me to open the regulator. After that, it was no longer a problem.
Since then I’ve been doing it every morning. Every time before opening the valve there are similar thoughts, but now it’s more routine. I still don’t like taking a cold shower, but every morning in the first quarter of an hour I have the sense of achievement and I know that I can do things and I feel good.

Do you want to see how it looks like?

A few more practical tips. You can of course take a cold shower in different ways. I just stand right under it and shower my head at the beginning. The first water is usually a bit warmer.
If you say now, I can’t because I have long hair and I can’t wash it properly. This seems to be largely a myth. Search the web for shampoo and cold water, you will be surprised.
Now you could object, I did it in summer and in winter the water is much colder. The facts, however, are that the tap water temperature is fairly constant over the seasons. You can find out more from your municipal utility company.

Now imagine you get up in the morning, You complete your morning program for your body and feel good that you have done it again. And then you take a cold shower and take this challenge for granted. You feel confident as someone who does what you do, and you are refreshed and ready for anything that day will bring.
What can you do with all the tailwind 15 minutes after getting up on this great day?

I wish you all the best for your health.
