Ralph Healey Celebration in Honor of Conquering Coronavirus

On Wednesday, Ralph Healey 51 years-old woke up not feeling well. He had a fever of 101, had a bad cough, and was feeling very tired. Not feeling that bad, and figuring that it would go away, he waited 2 weeks. He finally told his mother, brother, sister and along with his wife. They all decided that he should be checked out and to take good old Vitamin D. He went to a walk into a Clinic in Carle Place NY where he had a temperature of 101.5 and had his Oxygen levels tested to be 78-80% They recommended he go to the hospital. His wife took him home where he told his kids that he would be going to the hospital. His 10-year-old daughter Maddie made him promise her that he would come back home.

His wife Lauren dropped him off at Winthrop hospital where Ralph went for testing for COVID-19. As she left him off at the hospital, he thanked her for being a great wife not knowing if he’d ever see her or the kids again. After a few hours of waiting in the hospital he was found to be positive and placed in ICU.

During this time his wife was not feeling so great and developed a fever. She then got tested and was found to be positive for COVID-19 herself. Her children the twins Maddie and James though asymptomatic were also tested and found to be positive also. Though all 3 of them were well enough to recover in quarantine at home.

Ralph ‘s condition continued worsened and he was placed in ICU where the Doctors recommended, he be placed on a Ventilator. He refused though his Oxygen levels were worsening. He was illusionating, Lauren asked for thoughts and prayers on her Facebook page. Many prayers came in including one from Marshmallow the dog.

After 3 – 4 days in the ICU and being on multiple Oxygen treatments machines and a CPAC machine Ralph’s oxygen level started to rebound. He was put into a private room and kept getting stronger and stronger. With the help of many raspatory and physical therapist Ralph began his long road to recovery. He had no physical contact with his family for nearly a month.

Ralph returned home to his loving family on Thursday April 30, 2020. Nearly a month after being admitted to the hospital. He was to first person at Winthrop Hospital to come out of alive after being admitted to ICU unit for COVID-19. And on May 2nd at 4:PM this celebratory Miracle happened. Ralph is still recovering today and hopes to return to work in the middle of June 2020.
