Low Vitamin D Linked to Arterial Stiffness

Hey there, fitness fanatics!

Our topic today is all about vitamin D and blood vessel health. High blood pressure can stress the cells which line your blood vessels, causing them to stiffen and ultimately reduce their ability to function properly. Stiffened blood vessels are more susceptible to injury and disease, and can also cause potentially life-threatening complications in the heart and other organs. Vitamin D can alleviate some of these concerns by increasing vessel size and decreasing blood pressure. This, according to a review of literature by Australian scientists, can improve blood vessel flow rate. However, the literature review did not find any connection between vitamin D and true blood vessel elasticity, so vitamin D cannot reverse stiffness – it can only alleviate it. However, with such a serious issue, sometimes even a little bit of help is important. As always, thanks for watching.
