In this video, Dr. Berg talks about Vitamin E. Vitamin E is essential for heart health and the way that you become deficient in vitamin E mostly is by consuming refined carbohydrates in the form of breads, pasta, cereal, crackers, etc. Vitamin E is unique as it can travel right through the cell. Make sure to get the whole vitamin E complex and not just the individual. He also talks about the different parts of vitamin E complex.

Different Parts of Vitamin E Complex:
• Alpha Tocopherol – this is mainly used by the liver. This antioxidant travels with LDL or the low density lipoprotein. LDL is protein that is carrying cholesterol, triglycerides, vitamin E and other fat soluble vitamins.
LDL then helps protect the arteries, to help the cholesterol from being oxidized, it can also help decrease the risk of heart disease, stroke, etc. because it is an antioxidant.

• Gamma Tocopherol – This antioxidant has protective factors against smoke. . But when you smoke, this deplete this antioxidant at the same time.
This antioxidant also helps decrease certain risk of certain types of diseases and supports arteries.

• Tocotrienols – This helps support cholesterol or lipids, it also helps decrease breast disease and is very important to the skin health.

Source of Vitamin E:
• Wheat Germ Oil
• Seeds
• Nuts
• Vegetables

I wanna touch on vitamin E. Vitamin E is really essential to heart health. The way you become deficient in vitamin E is mostly by consuming refined carbohydrates in the form of breads, pasta, cereal, crackers, biscuits, waffles, pancakes, things like that. Vitamin E is unique as it can travel right through the cell, other antioxidants can’t quite do that. Now there are different parts of vitamin E complex and I always recommend when you get vitamin E make sure you get it in the complex and not as one fraction apart of vitamin E complex. I will not just get Alpha Tocopherol, I wanna get the whole complex. Alpha Tocopherol is mainly used by the liver and this antioxidant could not just travel on its own, it needs a shuttle. It actually hops on board with the LDL. low density lipoprotein, this are called bad cholesterol. Well guess what? This antioxidant is inside this shuttle bus, LDL is basically a protein that is carrying cholesterol, triglycerides, vitamin E and other fat soluble vitamins. It is not cholesterol by itself, it is a protein carrier. So what happens is this (Alpha Tocopherol ) antioxidants is inside this shuttle bus to help protect the arteries, to help the cholesterol from being oxidized, it can also help decrease the risk of heart disease, stroke, etc. because it is an antioxidant and all of these three types of conditions start out with all these oxidation or break down or free radical damage. Then you have something called Gamma Tocopherol. This antioxidant has protective factors against smoke but Gamma Tocopherol helps protect or decrease the risk of diseases somewhat. The other thing is when you smoke, this deplete this antioxidant at the same time.
