Kumail Nanjiani trying to stay zen about coronavirus, unsure of 'The Eternals' reshoots

(21 May 2020) KUMAIL NANJIANI TRYING TO STAY ZEN ABOUT CORONAVIRUS, UNSURE OF ‘THE ETERNALS’ RESHOOTS
Kumail Nanjiani says he’s doing his best to concentrate on what’s under his control amid the coronavirus pandemic even though he’s been frustrated by states reopening and the refusal of many to wear masks or socially distance themselves from each other.
Nanjiani’s wife, Emily Gordon, has both a suppressed immune system and has undergone lung surgery, the couple revealed on their new podcast, “Staying In with Emily and Kumail.” Both issues make her more vulnerable if she were to get the coronavirus.
Nanjiani has expressed his frustration repeatedly on social media but recently said he’s trying not to let it get to him.
“You just have to sort of focus on doing the best you can, you know?” he said. “So me and Emily, we’re being very careful. You can’t control the behavior of other people, and trying to do that just leads to frustration. So some of it is, ‘Let’s do the best we can with the situation we have.’ There are things you can control, certain things you cannot control so let’s just do the best that is under our power.”
Gordon’s previous health issues were famously featured in Nanjiani’s acclaimed film, “The Big Sick.”
Nanjiani is currently starring in Netflix’s “The Lovebirds” with Issa Rae and has to do reshoots on the Marvel movie “The Eternals,” set for release in 2021.
“I don’t know how that’s going to work,” Nanjiani said of the reshoots. “I truly have no idea what’s going on. I know that everything is shut down right now, so I’m sort of waiting to hear, as is everybody else, I think.”
