Eating healthy is not a fad, but a lifestyle, believes KaranOberoi (KO), top fitness and fashion model, who has been in the business forlong. For Karan, his day starts with Surya Namaskar, and ends with an earlydinner and we guess this discipline defines his love for being fit and energetic.Recently, he shot a video with Times Food where he shared his unique recipethat is full of fibre, protein and all necessary minerals. Karan calls it, ‘PowerPunch’, which is basically an amalgamation of egg whites, oats, salt, pepper, spinachand boiled chicken. The final dish looks more like an omelette, which Karanindulges thrice in a week. Wondering why? The answer lies in the ingredients. An egg is a rich source of protein. According to experts, more than half the proteinof an egg is found in the egg white along with vitamin B2 and lower amounts offat than the yolk. Eggs are also a rich source of selenium, vitamin D, B6, B12and minerals such as zinc, iron and copper. Oats, on the other hand, is a gluten-free whole grain and a great source ofimportant vitamins, minerals, fibre and antioxidants. It has been proven that oatsand oatmeal are helpful in weight loss, lower blood sugar levels and a reducedrisk of heart disease. And chicken as an excellent source of low-fat proteinhelps the body to maintain muscle mass and also helps in building muscle, in caseyou are participating in a strength program. Chicken breast is also a very goodsource of selenium, phosphorus, vitamin B6, and niacin.
