Low Vitamin D Worsens COVID But How Often Do We Hear This in the Media?

The Carnivore Code has arrived and it’s already a bestseller!! Get it here: www.thecarnivorecodebook.com

In this snippet from my podcast (Fundamental Health, available on iTunes, YouTube and everywhere) with Ivor Cummins, we discuss data suggesting that adequate vitamin D levels are crucial for a proper immune response and that low levels are associated with worse COVID-19 outcomes. If you saw the post yesterday you’ll know that I also believe that high vitamin D levels are a marker of overall health, real sun exposure, and metabolic health in general. We shouldn’t be too quick to believe that taking a vitamin D supplement will bring us the same benefits as real sunlight and proper metabolic health. On yesterday’s post I got some people asking “what if I live in a place without sunlight”- in this case sure, take some vitamin D but don’t believe that this is the same as UV light or that it can make up for metabolic dysfunction. You can’t out supplement a bad lifestyle. I know most people reading this know that this is the case, but I fear the mainstream will be confused by messaging around vitamin D. On that point also, isn’t it interesting that as Ivor and I point out, the mainstream media really hasn’t talked about anything we CAN do to improve our immune strength like a good diet, and real sunlight. Your guess is as good as mine why these things have been ignored but I sure hope these messages get out more broadly soon. Especially as the weather gets better and we are allowed to be in outdoor spaces again. Can I also just mention that there’s pretty good data that outdoor transmission of corona is pretty rare- closing nature made zero sense from the very beginning! What do you think of all of this? Time to get outside? Have you heard the media talk about these vitamin D findings or insulin resistance connections with severe COVID?
