#AskDrBob: Nail Health, High Uric Acid, Itchy Skin

Hi Everyone!

These were the questions asked in this episode of #AskDrBob. If you have any general health questions, please email us, askdrbob@druglessdoctor.com, and we will present it in an upcoming episode. Thank you!

Q: About three weeks ago I was cleaning my dad’s windows and soon afterwards my right knee began to swell, and it felt like I was walking with water under my knee. My knee is stiff, and it hurts to bend it and the discomfort gets worse after being on my feet. There is a ligament or muscle that runs right behind my knee that really hurts. What can be done? Should I take something?

A: Without looking at you, it can be many possibilities including a Baker’s Cyst.

Q: I have vertical ridges in my nails (fingers and some toes). Some cause my nail to peel. Am I lacking a vitamin source?

A: It is possible you have a digestive enzyme need which could be a need for protein. Also, you may have adrenal stress which historically has been suggested to cause ridges.

Q: What are your thoughts on detox foot baths?

A: I have used them in the past in my office with success.

Q: Do eye floaters ever go away? If so, how can one get rid of them? If a floater is caused by a Vitamin A deficiency.

A: I have seen them go away with eating carrots within as little as six weeks to six months. I am not an optometrist or ophthalmologist so you will want to be assessed by an eye expert.

Q: Dr Bob, I have a higher Uric Acid level of 7.5, but I don’t drink or eat any of the suspect uric acid-causing foods. How could this happen and how can I lower them?

A: We use a product called Folate-5 Plus from Biotics Research Corporation. You would want to rule out kidney distress.

Folate-5 Plus:

Q: About two years ago after being at my kid’s soccer game I noticed my legs were itchy. I was wearing distressed jeans. I went home and there were blisters where my skin was exposed. It’s been happening like that whenever my skin is exposed to sunlight. We went to the beach and I put on Sunscreen spf 110 all over. As we were leaving the beach my skin got itchy all over and blistered up. My skin turns back normal after a couple of hours, an allergy pill, aloe vera gel and a shower. There is never a burn or flaky skin afterwards. It was as if it was an allergic reaction. I have been taking vitamin D3 supplements and taking zinc. Is there something that I can do differently? My family likes the beach and I do not want to have to change plans because of this.

A: It is possible the vitamin D you are taking is not compatible with your system and may be causing an imbalance. Also, you may need calcium and an omega-3 oil. I would suggest you complete the Omega Test found on our website and also you may consider having the Opti-Chem Profile to evaluate your calcium and phosphorus ratios. The ratio should be 10 parts calcium to four parts phosphorous.
