Hong Kong has earned international praise for how its health care system has handled coronavirus patients amid the Covid-19 pandemic. Many of the city’s medical professionals had experience with another coronavirus outbreak, Sars in 2002-2003, and have applied tactics they learned then to their current battle. While some Covid-19 patients face a life-or-death struggle, for many it is a test of endurance, with those experiencing mild symptoms asked to allow their immune systems to do the work during hospital stays that can last for more than 40 days.
