Herd immunity is when enough people become immune to a contagious disease that it significantly slows down the spread of the infection.
The UK’s Chief Scientific Advisor Patrick Vallance said on Friday that experts estimated that about 60 per cent of the UK’s population would have to contract coronavirus for society to build up immunity.
