COVID-19 immunity now 20-25% in Salt Lake County residents, data shows

New data shows that the immunity to COVID-19 is rising in Salt Lake County, and health experts are optimistic that the community is working toward herd immunity.

Numbers from salt lake county show how many people are now immune to covet 19. health experts say we could reach herd immunity sooner than you may think fox 13’s lauren steinbrecher is live at the mountain america expo center and center sandy tonight with more lauren yeah kelly and bob

So people are starting to show up here to the expo center to get their second round of that coveted 19 a month after they got the first and as that people are coming in we are learning just how many people are immune to covet 19 not just from vaccinations but also from people

Who have had covid and that percentage is pretty surprising here for round two which arm did you want to get it in today which means in just a week these people will be fully vaccinated i think this is wonderful crossing over to the other side of covet 19

Immunity i’m going to go home and celebrate and call all my friends up and remotely we’re all going to have a drink in celebration while the salt lake county health department says the number of completed two dose vaccinations is still low the best guess is

So right now we are about at six percent for salt lake county as far as individuals they’re completely vaccinated they just found out good news what they have found and this is their most recent data it’s been about 20 to 25 of salt lake county residents have shown

Immunity from either the disease itself or vaccine or both that’s a quarter of the population showing immunity the numbers thanks to the university of utah’s hero project which has been monitoring covet 19 activity in the community since last spring 20 to 25 is fabulous especially because dr stephen alder says

They estimate that number was about 10 percent heading into december it bodes well for the future hopefully we’re talking a matter of a few months before we really start to see numbers that are that are um that gives a chance to be optimistic about how quickly we can get to at least what

Will be our new normal but dr alder says it’s all dependent on continued vaccinations mask wearing and social distancing to get to what experts project is a necessary 70 percent to reach that herd immunity and quash covid elaine is proud she’s part of getting us there

I’m just so happy to have the second and to be able to be part of this wonderful movement of getting everybody vaccinated and i think that everybody should now in addition to tracking those immunity numbers the utah hero project has also been looking at some other things like transmission in schools

And even the economy and they say what they’re finding is that statewide mandates correlate with consumers seeming to get out more and feeling safer going to places where they feel like safety measures are being taken so there’s actually a positive correlation between statewide mandates and the economy and they’re also finding that

Transmission within schools that are following guidelines is very low for coveted 19. live in sandy lawrence steinbrecher fox 13 news utah
