We’re back now with Dr Jerry and he’s taking a look at some of your questions that the viewers are asking right now and here’s a question for you when should I talk to my doctor about a B12 supplement or shot for my energy levels I ask this question all the time and
It’s a very common question B12 deficiency can bring a variety of symptoms your problems with your memory your vision numbness and tingling so I think if you have any symptoms that you just can’t pinpoint it’s a good question to just simply ask what is your B12
Level at least once a year and then to supplement it you can do oral supplementation or an injection but people I think most people often don’t realize that some are more at risk than others those who have had a history of gastric bypass those who have a history
Of IBD or something like Crohn’s disease or more likely to have B12 deficiencies and so you just simply have to pay attention to your risk get checked and if needed get a supplement what foods can you get you know B12 from steak right or you know there’s a variety of
Foods that you can actually get B12 with there’s in from fish to ptry to chicken to to certain types of vegetables and legumes you can get B12 on our diet if you have a well-rounded diet you’re likely getting the appropriate amount of B12 so you shouldn’t have to worry about
It but again if you have those risk factors IBD Crohns and other issues with your gut where you can’t absorb it you should probably get it checked I have those chews in my office I eat them when I’m cranky a prescription for wellness you know this is prescription for wellness
Is actually borrowed from one of my colleagues in emergency medicine Dr Megan Martin on toys that we would avoid giving to Children during the holidays and we see in the emergency room number one toys with magnets or button batteries I think everyone already really knows about this or at least has
Heard about this once or twice but these toys can serve as choking hazards and they can also cause severe permanent damage uh secondly electric scooters it it’s interesting to me because when I moved back to New York I thought about getting an electric scooter and I asked
Every ER doctor I work with and they all said please do not do that you’re also on TV so you don’t need to do that know but it would be so much fun to have checked with the ER doctors yeah they all told me absolutely not they’re associated with cuts lacerations head
Trauma and and wrist injuries if you’re using an electric scoter you should at least be 16 years old and remember to wear a helmet and then the third thing are water beads a lot of these are come in toys and small gifts children put them in their ears their nose and then
Their mouth and when they ingest them they can increase in size and cause a blockage so these are some of the things you should avoid got to be careful that’s the best advice as well got to be careful absolutely thank you and hit us up on Instagram with all of your medical
