VaccineiInduced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia (VITT)

Vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT) is a rare immune reaction in response to the administration of an adenviral vector vaccination. During the height of the pandemic, misinformation regarding VITT was a prominent issue. This video aims to provide background knowledge on VITT while debunking some myths regarding the condition’s causal relationship with COVID-19 vaccines, occurrence, and treatment. This video will also cover the mechanism behind thrombosis, diagnostic criteria, symptomatology, treatment, and epidemiology.

This video was made by McMaster University students Laura Venier, Abesha Kuperan, Gurleen Sodhi, and Aashna Agarwal in collaboration with the Demystifying Medicine McMaster Program.
