World Covid Live: A new COVID variant XBB.1.5, first detected in 2022, has once again raised alarms among health agencies. Descendant of Omicron XBB subvariant, XBB.1.5 is a cross between two earlier strains – BA.2.75 and BA.2.10.1 and has been detected in at least 28 countries. According to the reports, the XBB.1.5 variant, also known as Kraken, can escape the body’s natural immunity or protection provided by vaccines.
