The 5 Foods With The Most Vitamin E

Vitamin E is a fat-soluble nutrient present in many foods. In our body, it acts as an antioxidant and thus contributes to delaying ageing. On the other hand, the body needs this vitamin to stimulate the immune system to fight off invading bacteria and viruses.

It helps to dilate the blood vessels and prevent the formation of blood clots inside them. In addition, cells use vitamin E to interact with each other and to fulfil many essential functions. We can find it in vegetable oils, meat, poultry, eggs, fruits, vegetables and wheat germ oils.

Until now, it was thought that vitamin E and fats should be consumed simultaneously, but a scientist from the State University of Obregón has discovered that it is unnecessary. In the study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, the researcher thought that we should eat vitamin E and fat simultaneously. Our study shows that you can wait up to 12 hours without eating anything, so a meal that contains fat and Vitamin E is absorbed. This opens up new approaches to dietary guidelines related to this important vitamin.

In this study, researchers used a novel technique that used deuterium-labelled vitamin E and then administered it orally and intravenously. In this way, they could study the absorption in a much more detailed way in a group of women who were neither obese nor diabetic between the ages of 18 and 40.

Patients had to eat a liquid meal that contained 40% fat. Using various combinations of administrations, the researchers then discovered that vitamin E was absorbed into intestinal cells and remained there waiting for the next meal, waiting for chylomicrons, the lipoproteins that transport lipids in the blood.

Therefore, the vitamin can remain waiting, after being absorbed by the intestine, and there is no need to take fat at the same time or immediately after taking the vitamin.

Now let’s see the five foods with the most vitamin E:
