Many have been talking about this idea of Hybrid Immunity or “Super Immunity” and COVID-19. This is the concept that those who have been both previously vaccinated, as well as previously infected (natural immunity) with COVID-19, have a much higher degree of immunity to COVID (and the different variants including Alpha, Beta, and Delta) than those who have been either vaccinated or previously infected. What does this mean and does it also apply to Omicron? What is best?

Why exactly “Super Immunity” occurs has been a topic of much discussion in scientific circles. We dive into the potential theories behind this including plasmablasts, memory B cells, and T cells. Studies support a massively higher titer of antibodies towards SARS-CoV-2 virus that is also more affective against the various COVID variants in those with Hybrid Immunity. This may not be the case against Omicron though. We discuss the data on this in detail!
