COVID-19: Pfizer jab '40 times less effective' against Omicron



Antibodies from the Pfizer vaccine may be up to 40 times less effective against Omicron than against the original COVID strain.

The first lab tests on the new variant in South Africa showed that while the strain was able to escape the vaccine antibodies, there was some protection.

The study was small and will need to be verified with larger sample groups.
