Vitamin B7 (Biotin) is a water soluble vitamin important in gluconeogenesis, branched-chain amino acid metabolism and fatty acid synthesis. Sources of Biotin include diet and gut microbial synthesis. In this lesson, we discuss the enzymes that require biotin, along with the causes of biotin deficiency, clinical features (signs & symptoms), how biotin deficiency is diagnosed and how it is treated.
