You’ve probably heard all of the immune-boosting DIY and life hacks from vitamin C to vitamin D and zinc all to prevent and treat coronavirus. There has been a lot of information in the news lately about people adding vitamins to their diet in hopes of protecting themselves against COVID-19. Zinc, vitamin D, and vitamin C have all been discussed as possible protectors, but so far there has not been a clear consensus made to know for sure if taking these supplements can make a difference when it comes to coronavirus. While many arguments have been made, both agreeing and disagreeing on this topic, today Doctor Wagner will be discussing what we know about taking supplements to protect against COVID-19.

Overall the Pfizer and Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is still the best way to prevent COVID-19 but How does zinc help your body? Should I take zinc? Who should not take zinc? Can a zinc deficiency cause hair loss? Zinc is an essential mineral that is naturally present in some foods, added to others, and available as a dietary supplement. Zinc is considered an essential nutrient, meaning that your body can’t produce or store it. Zinc helps your immune system and metabolism function and is also important to wound healing and your sense of taste and smell. Zinc balances immune responses and also has a proven direct antiviral action against some viruses. Zinc deficiency (ZD) is a common condition in the elderly and individuals with chronic diseases. In order to get more zinc in your diet, you need to consume more zinc-rich foods. The zinc-rich foods are pumpkin seeds, oysters, grass-fed beef, sprouted nuts and seeds, and peas. Additionally, probiotics are a key supplement to take when zinc deficient because it can help your overall absorption of nutrients. Most of us who are healthy and follow a balanced diet is getting enough zinc. Thanks so much for watching. Stay healthy, my friends!
