Morning Nutrition

Lemon Juice Shots and Warm Water

Lemon juice

Lemons are a rich source of vitamin C, folate, and potassium. Nutrients that are essential to protect the body and boost the Immune system.

Drinking lemon juice, with warm water, every morning helps in maintaining the pH balance of the body. Acts as a detoxifying agent and can aid in maintaining digestive health. All of these reason are why I include this practice in my daily morning routine. (* Avoid if you have stomach ulcers or acid reflux).

Juice fresh lemons, if possible. I juice about 2 lemons per person- depending on the size and juiciness of the lemons. I use a repurposed shot glass for measurement.

Warm Water

Warm water in the morning mixed with lemon juice may;
Aid in digestion.
Calms central nervous system.
Help relieve constipation & keep you hydrated.
Improve your circulation.
Even possibly decrease stress levels.

Mix together the warm water and lemon juice, then consume… after do Oil Pulling.
Wait ten minutes.
Then consume your Veggie Juice and or breakfast etc.

I hope you enjoy this practice!

OIL PULLING

Traditional oral hygiene practices, such as brushing your teeth, flossing, getting routine cleanings are imperative to your over all wellness program.

There is one extra supplementary practice I like to include in my oral wellness routine in the morning… Oil Pulling! An ancient Ayurvedic technique, oil pulling involves swishing a tablespoon of coconut oil your mouth. The intention is to draw out toxins in your body and to improve oral health- reducing bad breath, killing harmful bacteria in the mouth and enhancing your overall health.

I love using coconut oil as it possesses strong anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties.

Remember, 70% of our immunity is in our gut health. Our mouth is the beginning of our digestive system. Let’s improve and support our immune system starting with oral care.

Method to Oil Pulling in 4 Steps

Measure one tablespoon of coconut oil.
Swish it around in your mouth for 15–20 minutes, being careful not to swallow any. It will liquify in your mouth as it warms up. I started with just 5 minutes to begin with. For best results, do this first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. I use this time to multi-task- I make my bed, empty the dishwasher etc. while oil pulling.
Then spit the oil into the rubbish bin once you’re done. Not into the sink or toilet, it may cause a clogging, because of the build up of oil.
Rinse your mouth thoroughly, using warm water. Then brush your teeth, floss and scrub your tongue etc.

My mouth feels clean and fresh after oil pulling. Some contribute oil pulling to sinus clearing, and natural teeth whitening also.

My toothpaste and floss of choice is Young Living Thieves Toothpaste & Thieves Dental Floss. Why this toothpaste? It has essential oils known for their wellness properties. (If you want to order, let me know).
