Covid-19: Are immunity passports an option to exit lockdown?

Should governments start issuing ‘immunity passports’ to people who have recovered from Covid-19, as a major step towards reopening the economy? Hindustan Times’ Sanchita Sharma looks at the pros and cons of this suggestion, in light of the World Health Organisation’s opposition to the move. An immunity passport would be issued to those who have recovered from the disease and developed antibodies which may protect them from a second bout. The criticisms include discrimination against those who have managed to prevent infection by the Sars-Cov-2 virus, and also the threat of a few false results of antibody tests leading to vulnerable people venturing out.
