Breast milk,
Breast milk is a complete diet for infants. As amount per 100 grams, breast milk contains 1g protein, 4.4g fats, 7g carbohydrates and 14mg cholesterol. Breast milk also contains 4% vitamin A, 8% Vitamin C, 3% Calcium and 1% cobalamin. Breast milk can be easily digested by babies, and several antibodies are available in milk to assist baby, fight off harmful bacteria and viruses. Lactose is the type of sugar, present in the breast milk, to provide natural sweetness.
Infant Formula,
Infant formula is usually modeled to feed babies, and to meet their nutritional requirements as an alternative to breast milk. Infant formula is prepared, by the fortification of various minerals and nutrients. Infant formula contains 14g proteins, 52g carbohydrates, 28g fats and 8mg cholesterol as amount per 100g. However, breast milk is preferred over infant formula, because it provides recommended level of nutrients, to infants and prevent several diseases.
Mashed banana,
Bananas should be introduced into the baby’s diet, as soon as they begin to consume solids. Babies love to eat banana because of its sweet taste and natural flavour. Mashed banana and puree is the ideal and recommended diet for 3 months old baby. One serving of banana contains 28g carbohydrates, 1g protein, 15g sugar, 450mg potassium and 3 gram fiber. Banana provides 110 calories.
Tapioca (sabudana),
One of the recommended foods, for 4-5 months old baby, is Tapioca which is made up of starch. The minerals in tapioca are calcium and iron. Calcium keeps the bones strong and prevents the bones diseases such as rickets. Iron assists in the transportation of oxygen throughout the body. The starch found in tapioca is gluten free, that is used as best alternative to wheat flour. Tapioca is easily digested by toddlers and it provides them instant energy.
Yogurt,
Absolutely, when babies reach the age of 6 months, transition to more solid foods is required and beneficial. Organic, plain, whole milk yogurt is the greatest choice for kids. Almonds can also be added in the yogurt in the form of powder to enhance its flavour. 3.5 ounces of plain, whole milk yogurt provides 3.5g protein, 4.7g carbohydrates and 3.3g fat. Yogurt is an excellent source of calcium.
Fruits puree,
Fruits are blended to form thick, semi liquid and smooth paste. Apple and mango purees are generally consumed by babies. Puree provides them more nutrients and fibers which is necessary for the better growth and development. Orange or oranges juice is not recommended and suitable to consume by 7 months old baby as it contains more citric acid which can cause terrible rashes, therefore, it is better to avoid citric acid fruits.
Boiled potatoes,
Potatoes are loaded with minerals and vitamins that assist babies in their gastrointestinal health. Potatoes also provides them a lot of energy and protects their liver. Potatoes are best for 8 months babies for their movement and growth. Potatoes are rich in fiber and carbohydrates and provides more calories.
Egg,
Boiled, fried and scrambled egg can be served to baby especially when baby is 9-10 months old. Now, eggs are usually deliberated as early and safe food for babies. If baby is suffering from severe eczema, or your family has allergic reaction history to eggs, then consider to talk to pediatrician, before introducing eggs to the baby diet, when they begin to consume solids.
Boiled Rice and Pulses,
Rice is a rich source of iron and calcium while, pulses provide fiber and protein. Pulses are also a significant source of minerals and vitamins, such as folate, magnesium, iron, and zinc. Curd rice or Khichdi can be given to 11-12 months toddlers. Pulses assist in the weight gaining and brain development.
