COVID-19 Lectures: How Does the Human Body Manage the Corona Virus?

In the public, interdisciplinary lecture series “COVID-19 Lectures”, leading scientists from the Technical University of Munich (TUM) will provide insights into their current research on the corona pandemic. The series will be streamed live on YouTube on wednesdays between January 13 and February 24.

Start of the lecture: 03:20 (English language)

This lecture by Prof. Percy Knolle, Director of the Institute of Molecular Immunology and Experimental Oncology at TUM, will provide insight into how the immune system controls the virus and how deleterious immunity leading to organ damage can arise. The understanding of the immune response to SARS-CoV-2 is important for protection and immunopathogenesis. Monitoring of immune responses to SARS-CoV-2 is therefore important to evaluate protection from infection. Altogether, this lecture will provide a piece of basic knowledge on how the body copes with SARS-CoV-2 infection and what role the immune response to SARS-CoV-2 has during the control of infection but also for protection from further infection.

Moderator: Prof. Dr. Marion Kiechle, Director of the Women’s Clinic at the Rechts der Isar Hospital and former Bavarian State Minister for Science and the Arts.
