Covid: Will new virus variant impact vaccine? UK PM Boris clarifies amid alarm

The discovery of a new strain of the Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus, which causes the Covid-19 illness, has caused alarm in the United Kingdom. The Boris Johnson administration imposed lockdowns in London and southeast England with the Prime Minister stating that since the virus had changed its ‘method of attack’, the country would have to change its ‘method of defence’. The new strain has been confirmed to be ‘significantly’ more infectious, but the UK government said that the recently-developed vaccines are likely to stillbe effective. The UK has already administered the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to over 3.5 lakh people so far. Watch the full video for more.
