Crossing The Finish Line On My Road To Recovery

On February 11, 2020, what began like any other Tuesday ended with a trip to the ER and ICU.
At 5:00 PM, I was fine. By 6:00, I had developed severe body chills and a fever of 104. At the local urgent care clinic, the physician gave me a negative flu test but called ahead to the ER and sent me immediately. The ER and ICU were a rough experience, but this was pre-COVID so I was diagnosed with a different viral infection and treated for Sepsis.
While I made it out of the hospital in less than a week, it took months to feel normal again. As I inch closer that same date one year later, I feel that I’ve made a full recovery with one exception. Certain guitar techniques haven’t returned like I’d hoped.
Each day between Dec. 24th and Feb. 11th, I’ll be posting a short video to share part of that experience from hospital to recovery, and a new exercise or activity on the guitar that I hope will help me cross that final finish line.
If you’ve had a tough 2020, I hope you find this series interesting, or enlightening…or perhaps even encouraging and inspiring. If you’re also a guitarist, try these exercises with me, and let me know how they work for you!
