Vitamin A is a fat- soluble vitamin that is naturally present in many foods. Vitamin A is important for good eyes , the immune system , and reproductive health . This vitamin also helps the heart ,lungs ,kidneys, and other organs work properly . A deficiency of vitamin A can lead to blindness and increased viral infection.
Vitamin A is available to humans in 2 ways
1- preformed vitamin A and 2- Carotenoids . Preformed vitamin A is found in animal food sources like liver , meat , fishes and dairy . Carotenoids , like beta – carotene , are found in plant foods and have to be converted by the body into vitamin A .
