What Is Nutritional Yeast and Why To Use Nutritional Yeast

When moving towards more of a plant-based diet you might find there may be ingredients you have never heard of before and are totally unfamiliar with what they are or how to use them. Well, Nutrition Yeast is one of those ingredients, I had never heard of it until I went Vegan and boy am I glad I did it’s a total game-changer in the kitchen.

Nutritional yeast is an unactivated yeast that has a distinct cheesy nutty flavor, high selenium, B vitamins, including B12 and folic acid. A fantastic ingredient to use in vegan cheeses and cheese sauces, used as a parmesan substitute on top of pizza and pasta, great in pestos and salads. Just another perfect example that there truly is a plant-based alternative for everything.
