In today’s video, we are going to talk about The Best Fruits that are Safe for your Cats.

There are many benefits of including fruit in a healthy human diet, but as a pet parent, you may ask yourself, can my pets eat fruit?

If you’re tempted to feed these tasty treats to your furry friend, you’ll be happy to know that you can include fruit in your pet’s snack routine, as long as you stick to those fruits that are safe. Some fruits can be toxic to your pet, so it’s very important to double-check with your veterinarian before sharing your fruit salad. Also, remember that it is very important to consider your pet’s overall diet. If your cat is already eating a well-balanced diet, make sure that you don’t overdo it by feeding them fruit, even if it is a nutritious treat.

Due to their lack of sweet taste receptors, cats are usually not interested in the sweetness found in fruit. However, there are several kinds of fruit that cats can eat as a treat in moderation. A few bites are all that their digestive systems can tolerate.

Cats are carnivores, which means that their diet should be primarily protein-based. Your feline friend doesn’t actually need fruits or vegetables in her diet to remain healthy, but they do make a good alternative to high-calorie treats.

Here is the list of the best fruits that are safe for your Cats to eat.

1. Apples.

Apples are high in fiber and low in fat, making them an ideal snack for overweight or senior pets who may have a slower metabolism. They’re also packed with vitamins A and C which are essential for maintaining healthy bones and tissue. Feed your pet apples in moderation and remove the core and seeds first, as they contain cyanide.

2. Bananas.

Bananas are a great source of potassium which can support heart and kidney functions. Bananas are high in carbohydrates, and the high sugar content in bananas means that they should be given to cats sparingly. When sliced into reasonable sizes this can make a good occasional treat.

3. Blueberries.

Similar to their benefits in humans, blueberries can help prevent cell and tissue damage because of their antioxidant properties. In addition to being a good source of fiber and Vitamin C, blueberries may lessen the chances of your pet developing urinary tract infections and have been shown to improve night vision.

4. Cantaloupe.

It’s important to remove the skin and seeds and cut the cantaloupe into manageable sized wedges before feeding to cats. Also, don’t let them lick the outside skin, which may carry harmful bacteria. With a host of vitamins and minerals, including vitamins A, B, and C, cantaloupe may help alleviate inflammatory issues in pets.

5. Strawberries.

Fresh or frozen strawberries can help pets stay healthy whether they eat them raw or pureed over their normal pet food. The nutrients in strawberries help strengthen the immune system and slow issues related to aging.

This yummy berry contains vitamins B1 and B6, helpful for your cat’s muscles.

6. Watermelon.

Watermelon is almost 92% water, so it is great for keeping your pet hydrated. It also contains Vitamins A, C, and B-6, as well as potassium which helps maintain healthy muscle and nerve function.

7. Cranberries.

If you’re looking to help fight urinary tract infections in cats, cranberries may be an option. Vitamin C, fiber, and manganese make cranberries an attractive snack for cats, provided they can handle the tartness. Raw, cooked, or dried cranberries are acceptable treats, but avoid cranberry sauce and cranberry juice, which are too high in sugar and will upset your pets’ stomach.

8. Mango.

Mangoes are a vitamin-packed treat for cats. As with all pitted fruits, be sure to remove the hard middle pit which contains poisonous amounts of cyanide. Giving small pieces of mango with the skin removed will allow for easier digestion and as a result, lessen the chances that fiber from the fruit will upset your pets’ stomach and digestive tract.

9. Pear.

Pears are full of vitamin C, vitamin A, and fiber, and make a great snack for cats when served in moderation. As with apples and oranges, pear seeds contain traces of cyanide and should be removed before feeding to your pet. Give cats or dogs small slices of pear to help promote anti-cancer properties.
