Experts argue about herd immunity as a strategy in the fight against coronavirus | COVID-19 Special

Herd immunity is usually achieved with a vaccine, take polio as an example. But in the fight against the coronavirus, some countries argued about the option of a natural herd immunity. Some experts want to allow the infection to spread, claiming it would minimize harm and protect the economy. More scientists say it’s dangerous and may not even work – and it’s the most vulnerable, who’d be hit hardest. A few days after 3 epidemiologists in a “Great Barrington Declaration” spoke out in favor of a “Focused Protection” of the population, 80 other scientists describe this as a dangerous mistake in a “John Snow Memorandum”.
