WATCH | Governor Mike DeWine focuses on hospitals amid COVID-19 surge

November 23, 2020: Ohio Governor Mike DeWine is holding a COVID-19 press conference with the focus being on hospitals amid the surge in cases. ‘This is not sustainable,’ he said last week amid Ohio’s ongoing spike in cases. ‘We have to turn this thing around, and we have the ability to do it.’

Last week, Gov. DeWine made a quick stop in Cleveland to address his concerns of the surging COVID-19 cases and the impact on hospitals throughout the state.

“When we talk about stress on the hospitals, the real stress is going to be – and is already – on the personnel,” he said. “We have no place to borrow nurses. We have no place to borrow doctors. … Even if we turn this ship around right today, we know that this hospital admissions, at least for a while, are going to continue to go up. That’s what’s scary. This is not sustainable. We have to turn this thing around, and we have the ability to do it. I’m asking every Ohioan to cut back on things you’re doing. Stay home more.”
