Robert Mitchum portrays a gunrunner willing to sell his services to the highest bidder, whether he be a Texas Ranger or a ruthless Mexican dictator. Finally, his loyalty is captured, not so much by patriotism as from his passion for the Ranger’s beautiful wife.
