COVID-19

SciLifeLab Talkshow – Episode 2. Combating Covid-19.

What happened at SciLifeLab when the pandemic hit the world? How has SciLifeLab contributed to different Covid-19 efforts, and what’s the status today?

We meet Peter Wallenberg Jr (chair of the Knut and Alice Wallenberg Foundation (KAW)) to hear about how KAW chose to partner up with SciLifeLab to launch several endeavors to combat Covid-19. We take a quick look at some of the efforts taking place at SciLifeLab so far, and we welcome Charlotte Thålin, who came to be in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic both as a researcher and a physician working at the ICU at Danderyd Hospital and at the same time heading the COMMUNITY study at the hospital (part of the national SciLifeLab/KAW Covid-19 research program).

We’re also having a chat with Phil Ewels (team leader for bioinformatics at SciLifeLab’s National Genomics Infrastructure) to learn about the Swedish Covid-19 data portal developed by SciLifeLab and the Swedish Research Council. Last but not least, we’re taking a trip to Gothenburg to check in with some of the SciLifeLab facilities and hear from Per Sikora (Director of the Clinical Genomics Gothenburg facility and coordinator for Covid-19 testing in VGR) about his research and the events of this spring.
