After making a vaccine for coronavirus, you have to get it to the masses. But that’s not so easy for a so-called cold chain vaccine, requiring exacting temperatures across its journey. It also takes two shots. Vaccinating much of the United States won’t happen fast. The logistical challenge ahead is immense – not only because the vaccine has to be kept cold but it also has to be distributed across a sprawling nation. Health care workers, first responders and those with weaker immune systems are likely to get it first. The bulk of the U.S. population likely won’t have access to shots until well into 2021.
