Gerald McInerney, PhD, Associate Professor, Karolinska Institutet Stockholm, Sweden, “An alpaca nanobody neutralises SARS-CoV-2 by blocking receptor interaction”
One challenge in fighting viral diseases is to find appropriate binder proteins, either for testing or or for antibody development. Many antibody are dual chain, which requires two genes for reproduction and makes them relatively big. Single chain proteins are smaller, require only one gene and are therefore faster to reproduce. Dr. McInerny presents his work on Alpaca proteins based nanobodies, which are even smaller than single chain proteins.
